How to delegate effectively
Audience: All leaders, but especially first time managers, and managers who have recently been promoted .
Purpose: This module should help you to delegate more effectively, to use delegation to allocate more work to your staff and to simultaneously develop their competence and skill.

The more you delegate, the more time you will have to work efficiently as a leader. A leader needs to be able to delegate so that the work is shared amongst the team, enabling decisions to be made by those closest to the issue, rather than being encumbered by a command and control reporting style.
Delegation also helps develop skills and abilities leading to better performance and results at an individual, team and ultimately organizational level. Since the majority of learning takes place on the job at work, staff learn very effectively from a leader who delegates.
